Dr James Sarkodieh is a Consultant Radiologist at Barts Health, the largest NHS trust in the UK. He obtained his primary medical degree at Barts and the London, passing with Distinction. He also undertook an intercalated degree in sports & exercise medicine at Queen Mary, University of London before working as a junior doctor in London and Essex.
He undertook his radiology specialty training at the Barts and the London scheme and completed subspecialty training in musculoskeletal radiology at the Royal London and Royal National Orthopaedic Hospitals. He has also obtained the European Diploma of Musculoskeletal Radiology and the Postgraduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Medicine. This extensive knowledge, in combination with his experience in semi-professional football give him a unique insight into the mechanisms of injury, diagnosis and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
In addition, Dr Sarkodieh completed specialist training at the London Chest Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children allowing him to gain subspecialist knowledge and skills in paediatric and chest imaging.
He is an expert in ultrasound-guided and CT-guided musculoskeletal injections referred to him by GPs and specialists. In his regular practice he interprets a wide range of MRI, CT, X-ray and ultrasound studies.
He has published in peer-reviewed medical journals, presented at national and international conferences and regularly delivers formal postgraduate teaching in sports & exercise medicine and musculoskeletal ultrasound.
